hi
I've been running to loose weight since last September' I enjoy it so much I completed my first half marathon last Sunday (really enjoyed) '
I've also been cycling on an exercise bike since February '
My question is why have I not lost any weight on my weighing scales? Every week it is stuck on the same weight :(
My whole body has changed since last September and I've dropped 2 dress sizes' '
Friends are mentioning my weight whom I have not seen in a while
' wow you have Lost loads of weight how much have u lost ' and I'm like I haven't lost any ?!

You've probably built up muscle.
Or your scales are broken :-)
Doesn't sound like you need to worry anyway: if you are enjoying the running and getting lots of compliments.
Artcle in today's Daily Mail quoting experts stating that exercise can actually put weight on.
You will be wishing to lose excess fat rather than weight per se.

In any case exercise for fitness in the main. Control what you eat for weight control. I'm not saying exercise has no potential to help lose weight, just that you have to exercise rather a lot or compensate for a small excess input of energy.

I suspect friends are commenting on you looking fitter, have a "better" silhouette.
>>>I've been running to loose weight

No you have been trying to LOSE weight, not LOOSE.

They are totally different words that mean totally different things.

Thanks for the nice answers' and regarding my spelling mistake I'm awfully sorry I offended you. Although if we're to be picky you said they mean entirely different things. When in truth you can't loose weight so whereas mine was a honest mistake yours was nonsensical
It's a lot easier to lose weight if you exercise, but of course no matter what you do if you take in more calories than you burn off then you'll not lose weight.
Some people burn fat merely by sitting still and some people need to walk a mile and then put it all on again with a slice of bread. That is why life is unfair :-)
But if you're running, regardless of your weight, you're probably a lot healthier. And happier :-)
Keep up the exercise and just eat a little less on rest days. You're building up muscle and losing (or loosing, who cares) fat and as muscle is much denser than fat it takes up less space and you look thinner.

keep up the good work xx very petty comment VHG.
Well done on your increased fitness. I've read that running a lot doesn't necessarily help you lose weight. Your body gets used to the exercise you do and weight loss slows.
Athletes who are marathon runners aren't skinny because they run a lot, but are marathon runners because they are naturally skinny.
well done on the half marathon

I took up road running so I cd do something with my dog

but was warned that I might not lose weight unless I limited food intake.
The problem with that is you feel ravenous 24/7 whcih I cdnt cope with
keep going ...I was 20st & needed to do something about it, so I did..LOST 7st...Now planning to run my 1st marathon next year...But keep it up..& good luck..
