Aog, I'm sure you'll remember Fatty Arbuckle. A scandal ruined his career in entertainment, too.
"money-spinning career which collapsed " the stand out phrase.....

why now ?

didnt do himself any favours, did a runner , said he panicked....hmmm
Afraid mud sticks.

According to a friend of a friend Essex police covered up some stuff, perhaps this will come out, if you pardon the pun, when it gets to court.
It will be interesting. Has the potential to backfire. Career-wise he's been completely anonymous for over a decade and he would need to do a helluva lot more building work to gain popularity.

Michael Barrymore ?

Oh yes, that Michael Barrymore, the ex-entertainer that found a young man dead in his swimming pool !
Why should it prove interesting?
I have no idea what the cause of action is

the cause of death of the fireman in the swimming pool was clearly not natural caused so Barrymore has to expect an investigation ,,,,

and it was all ...... such a long time ago
I don't think Barrymore is going to get very far with this - it is unlikely he will be able to afford the calibre of QC he would need to get this case moving the way he wants it.

Why is he doing this now? Surely he can't imagine that his career can be resurrected after all this time?

Even entertainers with an utterly baffling level of popularity and success which Barrymore achieved have a shelf life, and his has seriously expired.

Please explain Sandy, because Gromit is either sending you 'lots of love' or is 'laughing out loud' for some very strange reason.

I think most of us know who he is mikey, except for you it seemed, but at least you got there in the end. :0)
fatty arbuckle was ruined by the finding of a dead lady in his hotel room
his acting career never recovered

as this is a fambly site - the post mortem of the lady not fatty showed damage with a - - coat hanger
AOG, I'd thought you and I were of a similar age. I remember being taken to the cinema by my parents and we'd quite often see his films put on as the supporting feature.
AS I said, his career careered into oblivion when he was embroiled in a scandal.
I think Gromit is laughing at us because we're old.

I disagree Andy, even celebrities with a much more checkered history than his are still very popular, after all he wasn't convicted of anything.

He was a great and talented entertainer, who simply oozed with charm and charisma, and lets face it there are very few like that now.

Thank you Peter and Sandy.

I did in fact remember Fatty Arbuckle, but knew little of the scandal that he was involved in, but I just couldn't see why Gromit found it so amusing, perhaps he will be along later to explain?

You might have to wait aog. Our mod is busy insulting someone else on another thread.

Yes it's hilarious isn't it, but apart from the fact that is ageist, he will perhaps be there himself someday.
