:o)
Kate has really done it now. Phoebe will never forgive her for breaking her word. I also wish Kenton would get over the persecution complex he has developed.
Rob was pushing it a bit today, Helen was being horribly understanding and reassuring (I'm wincing, having been there, because I still think he's a control freak) but once he gets her married - and preferably pregnant as well .........!
Adam can begger off, as far as I am concerned ! Perhaps he and his sister Kate can skip off to mid-Wales somewhere and live in a Teepee...they deserve each other ! And just where is Ian these days ?
Further to pet love up in Prideaux....why the hell doesn't Ruth just put the old bag in the back seat of the Land Rover and bring her down south, and have done with it ?
Exactly Mikey, my thoughts too. They are 'pussy-footing' round her. Ruth was horrified at the suggestion she get Heather's house valued as it would be going behind her back.
Perhaps Adam has to leave for a time so that he can come back with another actor taking his part? Seems to happen a lot lately.
If Ruth were to put her mother in the back of the Land Rover, and bring her south, from Prudhoe, that would be putting the problem of Heather on her and David's doorstep. It might be more straightforward for all concerned if Heather were kept oop north, out of sight, out of mind.
Agreed, bookbinder, but wouldn't it just add to the complexities of all the relationships - especially if Ruth couldn't do various jobs around Brookfield because she had to take mum to... whatever. A great opportunity for the scriptwriters.
Does Kenton have a point about David?
Hopkirk- it wasn't David's fault that Kenton went to Australia before he had the money in the bank. I can't remember why David was given Brookfield - in any case, Kenton has never been interested in farming. Were the others given money?
We need Mikey to tell us the history.
Well...........

It was like this. Kenton is definitely the Black Sheep of the Archers family. Twin to Shula, he has none of her in-built common sense. He is accident prone, completely ignorant of the meaning of the word common sense, and that is why he has spent most of his life in foreign parts, far, far away from the pleasant green pastures of Borsetshire. He is, to sum him up, a complete pillock and a menace to mankind.

( I have a nephew like him, who is at present, home from Oz and creating complete havoc ! )

But every ill that overcomes him is almost entirely his own fault. In the case in question, he and his comely wife, Jolene, a source of great comfort and joy to every teenage boy growing up in Ambridge for the last 30-odd years, disappeared off to Oz, on an extended holiday, on the very slim basis that he was going to be very wealthy on his return, because Dave was going to sell the Archers heritage off and move Opp North.

This, of course was never going to happen, as he should have realised if he had half a brain, which he hasn't. So when Dave come to his senses, at last, and realised that to move Opp North just to please that evil old bag, Pet Love, was totally out of order, Kenton come home to discover that there wasn't a pot of gold awaiting him on his return. He had been caning his credit card, in a very Kenton-like manner and now finds that he can't pay his debts. What a big surprise !

He is using this current excuse to open up the regular wound of the understandable brotherly wars.

I hope the above have been of some help !
I'm not sure, but I think Hopkirk wanted more history about the inheritance of the farm, because Kenton was making out that David is the blue -eyed boy. Back to you Mikey.......
Sorry hellywelly4...time for bed now !
Gosh you go to bed early!
Brilliant description as usual, Mikey, thanks.

As Helly suggests, I am beginning to have some sympathy with Kenton on why David appears to have been given more than the others in a will.

Over to you, oh fountain of Archers knowledge.
Hellywelly...."Early to bed, early to rise, etc, etc " !

Before David's father died, he made a controversial Will. In it, he bequeathed Brookfield, in its entirety, to David and Ruth, as they had both been instrumental in running the Farm for many years and making it what it is today. In his wisdom, he recognised that the other siblings were not farmers and he wanted the best for Brookfield, above all else. But the Will contained a condition that if it were ever to be sold, the others would get their percentage share.

This Will caused ructions at the time, as you might imagine, although the others finally came to accept it as the only way to keep Brookfield intact, as much as possible, for future generations of Archers. Elizabeth and Shula had made good marriages and didn't really need the money. Kenton, of course, would have blown his share within a few months.

I don't think anyone should feel the need to have any sympathy for Kenton. All his troubles are of his own making. He is irresponsible in the extreme, and has the mental maturity of a priapic teenage boy, rather than an adult.

He does, to be fair to him, have brief flashes of brilliance, especially when it comes to thinking "outside the box" but he lacks the maturity and common sense to follow these ideas forward. His only good move in recent years has been to marry the Jolene, Ambridge Siren, who will probably stop him sailing too near the rocks on his current adventure. The love of a good woman, especially one with enormous breasts, has been the saviour of many a Roaring Boy.
Thank you Mikey.

By the way, The Archers is a radio show.
How do you know that Jolene has huge bazookas?
It's not real y'know ?:-)
Hoppy...they have often been referred to as such.

In addition, I have heard then bang into the mic stands on more than one occasion. And you never hear of Jolene venturing onto a trampoline do you ?
You missed that episode.

It was hilarious
