when wakling my dog. I saw a mother duck and about ten little babies walking down a path towards a busy road to get to the local river. I couldn't help her because she was spooked by my dog, so I shouted over to a mechanic I could see and pointed to the ducks, he came running over with two of his colleagues and they all sprung into action! One managed to get the babies into a box and another stood in the road alerting the traffic as the mother duck was in danger of running into it. Eventually the mechanic with the box of ducklings walked over to the river path and deposited them there, where they were joined by their Mum and then they all waddled off into the river! made my day, what lovely men.

Nothing like a good story with a Happy Ending, to make you feel good all over, and you just wished you could have been there to help. Thanks for a Happy Tale you just made my Day

lovely story - lets have a whip round for the chaps!
Question Author
I did think about ringing my local rag to get their photo in, but they may have been embarrassed !
Well done them!

We have Duck rescues most years ,Mummy Mallards seem to have a penchant for dual carriageways despite having a beautiful place to live. They scare everyone to death with their antics.

She would never have got across the busy road on her own Mamya, so those men were wonderful !
They were.
Well done the mechanics....and you.....x
Question Author
Aww ta ......
And I think a picture in the local rag with the mechanics feeding the ducks would have been lovely.......☺
Do mechanics wear uniforms then ;-)
Question Author
One of the lads told me his girlfriend is a vet, so she'll be very pleased with him ....
They do, Cupid.....lovely, greasy and sweaty manly uniforms.....still think it'd make a great pic.....local papers love stories like that....and good for business for the chaps....☺
Question Author
Not with you cupid .....
gness likes men in uniform, chaptazbru....sorry for deviating from cute ducklings ;-)
You will be well rewarded by the universal energy. This was goodness in action.

Thanks for all your kind responses, I did call my local rag and they're going to do a little story on it ....

No probs cupid, I just didn't know what you meant ...
YAY!!! I hope you have a leading role.......we want pics of you waving like mad to attract the mechanics........the mechanics downing tools and rushing to the scene.........and big smiles as Mum Duck and the ducklings waddle to safety!!!.......☺

Sorry gness, I've told them I don't want any publicity (lol), I just want to be known as a 'concerned passerby'. I'll let the mechanics have all the publicity. Not sure if they'll be able to photo the ducks though as it's a big river and they could be anywhere. Looking forward to seeing it in the paper.
Okay.....I'd be the same......Concerned passer by is fine.....if anything ever happens to me and the local paper writes.......65 year old grannie run over by gnomes on a tandem.....I will do damage.....☺

I know, they always have to print your age don't they ..... x
