The 'No' way is what an African who had never seen a 'western' toilet would do. They only have 'squat' pans. When I lived in Zambia big hotels etc had 2 toilets 'Western' or 'Traditional' . They had that same notice in the 'Western' toilets.( Not that it made much difference!) The Africans never bothered to close the toilet door either as the 'Squat' toilets were communal 2 or 3 in a line.

So whats the surprise there. Didn't the French invent the phrase."Regardez lieu" when they dumped the dunny out the window on passers by below in the rue.
^^ Retro it was 'Regardez le eau' (Look out for the water) which became corrupted the give us the word 'Loo' (le eau) for toilet.
