Going For The One was released in '77. I left the army in early '78, piggy, that's why i was convinced that '77 was the year i saw them twice. Just googled it and seen that Yes were at the Bingley Hall, Stafford on 2nd, 3rd and 4th November.....................1977:-) - the Dusseldorf gig was 16 Nov same year. They spent nearly the whole of '78 touring the States and Canada with a 5 day gig-fest at Wembley arena thrown in. Still, doesn't really matter what year you saw them, does it? Awesome in the recording studio and simply mind blowing on stage.

Hi Piggy - I was at that gig - amazing indeed, as you said.

I also saw them at Trentham Gardens back in the day, which was a fabulous venue for bands - I saw Pink Floyd there on the Dark Side Tour in 1973/4 - the memory is a bit hazy now about the time. It cost three pounds fifty, which was pretty pricey, since I only paid one pound fifty to see David Bowie on the Ziggy tour.
i think we paid 2 quid for the going for the one gig. the 70´s was the decade of fab gigs. must´ve seen about 50 bands between 76 + 79.

It was Piggy - it was the time of young pups hitting the road for the first time - I saw Mott The Hoople supported by a just-signed glam outfit called Queen.

They played for twenty minutes, and the singer split his trousers, didn't think they'd do very well.

Next time I saw them - Bingley Hall in Stafford - eight thousand people - what do I know!!!!
