I have been having trouble viewing YouTube clips, it comes up with the message.

This plugin is vulnerable and should be updated, activate Adobe Flash.

CHECK FOR UPDATES.

When I click on this the following come up.

POTENTIALLY VULNERABLE PLUGINS

Java Runtime Environment NPRuntime Script Plug-in Library for Java(TM) Deploy

QuickTime Plug-in The QuickTime Plugin allows you to view a wide variety of multimedia content in Web pages. For more information, visit the QuickTime Web site.

Java Runtime Environment Next Generation Java Plug-in 10.71.2 for Mozilla browsers

OUTDATED PLUGINS

Adobe Flash Player Shockwave Flash 17.0 r0

Adobe Reader Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape

Silverlight Plug-In 5.1.30514.0

Will it be safe to update them all? I am not sure of Silverlight though because I have not heard of it.

I`m very wary of anything that says everything else is at fault, The only thing youtube should need is adobe flash player. Delete your current version completely and then go to the Adobe homepage and take the latest version. If it still comes up after this you may have a virus.

Thank you I will do that.
you dont have a virus, its just Youtube doing what it always has done.
Just update the plug in and youll be fine.
Silverlight is microsofts attempt at doing what others are already doing, eg Adobe flash for delivering content to browsers and devices.

Youtube are/have adopted HTML 5 that natively deals with most of this media ,so hopefully in the futire all these other plug ins will be not be needed
Always keep your 'Add-ons' up-to-date. You don't need Microsoft's Silverlight if you have got Shockwave Flash. So do as I have done and get rid of it.

Java is a dangerous item and can cause viruses to be introduced to you Computer/Laptop..... So, unless you have a definite reason to keep it..... Get shot of it. I live without it.

Quicktime is a multimedia framework developed by Apple Inc. and, from having read your posting, I would think that you have all that is necessary, as 'add-ons' in what I believe is a Firefox Browser, to safely remove it. You can always download it again , if required.

Hans.
