I must be thick this morning. What word or phrase is "hacker putty" supposed to sound like? I know that they are sometimes somewhat obscure but this has me baffled.

Yes, it's the Telegraph's little daily joke. If the third word is meant to be part of it then the third clue is in italics, but it isn't - though they have sometimes failed to do that. The third answer is "somnolent".
