how do I record from my lg smart television

LG make lots of different smart TVs. Which one is it and, importantly, has it got a USB socket (which would suggest that it might be capable of recording onto a memory stick)?

On my LG Smart TV you just press the white R on the red background button on the Sky remote -but that assumes you have a Sky remote

on my smart sony ive plugged in an external hard drive (which is to be on fat32) and record onto that,excellent,but as said in the manual the recordings can only be replayed back on the tv, not any other device
