Please can someone put Mrs Aytee's mind at rest. She had her last cervical smear test at 49 in 2012 when they were every three years. She has received a letter saying she is due for another one now. Her question is should it be now or, because she is now over 50, in 5 years time. Thanks very much.

At her last test in 2012 the term was 3 years - hence it was booked for 2015. Simples.

I had a cone biopsy op in 1980, then another in 1981. So....
smears are so important to keep your health in check.
Personally boxy I agree, although for me they were always very painful and often resulted in a bout of thrush afterwards. Not the nurses' fault, as I have had them done by many people at several different surgeries during my life. All I am saying is that its not my (or anyone's) job to tell adults what they should or should not do.
Conne, it shouldnt be painful, it's only done with a brush and spatula.
Sorry woof, posts crossed
boxy, you forgot the speculum......
True!
Mainly for Woofgang.. hope I didn't offend.. I was just suggesting, that after having the horrid smear test done, it would be nice to have something to look forward too.. as in a lunch out etc... something nice to focus on for after the test!.. If I was meaning a bribe..well that'd have to be at least, clothes shopping..weekend away... hair-do... *Chortlesplutters*... JOKE !! have a nice weekend Mrs C x

It was the period of time inbetween that was the issue, not having it done. Canary42 confirmed what I told her and hearing it from someone else made it less of a concern. Oh yes, I will treat her to lunch! Thanks all!
no offence taken crisper....its just the thread was slipping from the timing issue to telling an adult what she should or should not do and that gets up my nose! :)
