I have just been charged 57 Euros (£42.08) for 50 x 400mg tablets for my miniature poodle, they are called Wethyrox and the active ingredient is Levothyroxin, they are for the thyroid.
I suspect this particular vet to be a bit of a rip-off artist, his waiting room is always empty and I believe he thinks I'm made of money.
Does anyone know of similar tablets in and what they cost. I have a friend who is a pharmacist, he cannot obtain pet meds, but says an the equivalent for humans would only cost 18 Euros (£13.29)

i have one of those two - rip off - the day Harvey was dying in my arms - they kept saying to me £150 Conne £150 Conne before you leave - at the time I was so upset I just settled up with my card but when I thought about it later - where was the sympathy there and Jaysus give me time to pay it . They are all the same - money money.

Maxie has had a few issues I call them fungal - with his paws and his groin - he eating them nearly drawing blood - bless him - you know what I used my own stuff and it has cleared up great.
also Khandro - my friend got the name of the med for her pet and got them from Amazon at a third of the price. you could try there.
i get my thyroid tablets from animed direct, i pay the vets £7.20 for the prescription and then order directly, i save roughly half the price the vets would of charged for a 4 month supply

i tried putting that brand name in but it didn't recognize it - nor on a google search??

That must have been horrible jenny, when I had to have Max pts the vets I used to use were very good and told us not to worry about the bill till later, they also sent us a little sympathy card.In regards to prices my sister was charged nearly £40 for her dog's boosters which was about the same price my vet charged for Max's boosters AND kennel cough.I would suggest you ask around among the local doggy people there are some caring vets out there it's just a matter of finding one
When my cat was put to sleep the vets didn't mention payment. We got a sympathy card the following week and an invoice about a month later.

How does that work, I didn't know you could ask for a prescription from the vet. Did he make the initial diagnosis?
yes i know it is time for his injections according to the papers your woman sent me - and then I will get him microchipped because I don't think I can insure him without the chippy number so more money - the great thing my vet is really and truly at the bottom of the street - not the one I went to the first time. So it is very handy.
