Oh! dear......... The infection is not going to clear until the wax( or whatever) is removed........and that may well be painful. You need to see an ENT surgeon ( which is not easy in the NHS) and until then, dose yourself up with Ibuprofen.

yes........worth a try.
Coopers of Stortford sell an ear cleaner. It's like a self-syringing kit. I haven't bought one myself, but it isn't expensive at £6.99, buy one get one free. It requires 2 X AA batteries, which are not included. I've bought many products from this company and have found them to be excellent. They mainly specialise in gadgets and products for older people. I used to buy useful presents for my parents from them as Christmas 'extras'.
Good luck at the doctors. I hope they get something sorted out for you.
I am all for simple gadgets, but removing wax from a painful ear is quite a different kettle of fish from removing wax from a painful ear.

cats almost certainly has a boil in the ear, which makes wax removal..painful.

These gadgets are fine if the problem is just wax ( non painful).
Sorry...painless ear is quite a different kettle of fish from removing wax from a painful ear....

er what did he just say ?
I have to say agree with Sqad

I would be disinclined to fiddle with a painful inflamed ear

***Update***Had my appointment at the Doctors, this is still so painful, was prescribed stronger antibiotics, for 7 days and a swab was taken, of the infected ear, have another appointment on Tuesday, the pain at times is really bad, there is some sort of clear fluid leaking occasionally from it, and I am totally deaf in that ear.
Severe ear pain is awful , I do hope these stronger Meds have better results and the swab helps towards a solution too.

Take care.
