Why doesn't the government hire some "poachers" and frame their schemes so they can't legally be exploited by these firms? At the moment it's like amateur v professional, no contest. If the government wants to kerb these avoidance schemes then they need to get some pros on board.

Couldn't agree more.

Until the government produces Laws without loopholes we will never win.
I have no problem with any individual or company avoiding tax legally - it is the job of each to maximise profits and avoid expenses.

If the government is hoist by its own petard because of its archaic and ludicrously complex tax systems, then it has only itself to blame.

Simplify the systems, close the loopholes, and stop whinging about it!
Couldn't agree more with Andy.

Whenever such schemes are introduced, no matter how tightly they are framed, there will be armies of people seeking to exploit them to the limit. It's what happens when governments unnecessarily complicate what should be simple matters and no matter how many bright young things they employ they will always be outfoxed.

Best to keep things simple and not set up schemes such as this (which simply distort the market).
For once I totally agree with Andy. The answer lies in a simplified tax system with a low rate of tax coupled with draconian penalties for non payment that means it does not pay to avoid tax.

Won't happen though, too many politicians (of all persuasions) are taking advantage of the tax loop holes.
TTT....This is a cynical attempt to avoid paying the just tax that is due.
Lets hope your new Tory Government can put its money where its mouth is
and clamp down on companies like this, like a ton of bricks !
The tax is not due, though, Mikey. The (legal) loophole means that it isn't.

I disagree mikey, it is everyones right to avoid tax. It is the Governments job to make sure they can't.
I disagree, mikey - nobody is obliged to hand their money over to the government except as required by law. Do you present them with money they're not entitled to? If so, you need a better accountant.

Tax avoidance is legal (tax evasion is not). Everyone is entitled to minimise the amount of money the government takes from them.
