Hi folks, we have got a little problem with ants in our kitchen. We have been seeing the odd one bustling across our kitchen worktops over the last few weeks, and think we know where they are coming from. We think that they might have made a nest in between the cavity walls of our kitchen base cupboard units, they probably came in from the outside as the back bit of the cupboard is against the kitchen wall the other side of which is in the back garden (that clear?). Anyway, the only way to track down this nest is to completely tear down all our kitchen base unit cupboards - which of course we would prefer not to do. The other thought we had was to re-grout between the tiling and the worktop, where we think the ants are accessing the worktop area.

We're useless at mastic-ing things, so might well have to get someone in to do this, but we're still having a think about it.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks, Chox.

I wouldn't even begin trying to locate the nest. First get rid of them using some product - I find Nippon powder to be the best but others may have their own preferences. That will take a day or 2 to work. Once they've gone then block up your gaps as you want.
Ant Stop blocks on the bottom of doors works for me!
I agree with Prudie. Nippon works. dont try to destroy the nest or block the holes. sprinkle the sticky stuff or powder on the ant 'run' and it will be taken back to the nest.
