This question is driving me mad: 6a) Objections about end of the cheque (4)
I have ?T?? and think it is STUB ... but why ... I have never heard of STUB being used in this context! Answer with explanation please. TIA,

"buts" (objections) spelt backwards. The bit left behind in your cheque book is called the "stub".
