When you drive around the corner and spot two huge, low trailers on a neighbouring drive..... before you pull up and start rummaging along with the three people lifting out books and pots and pans.....stop and think....

It may not actually be a garage sale....it may just be the people moving their belongings into their new home.......

They were very nice......I wasn't the first they said....a lady named Caran had been along earlier.... ;-)

Oh, Mally......two books I wanted.....maybe they won't stay long and will have a genuine garage sale.....nice folk though and good to get to know new neighbours.......wonder if they feel the same....☺
where I live the unannounced removal lorry
watch carefully - they're moving out and not in !

I havent tried rummaging around the meerest belongings of a fly-by-night

One landlord marched smartly down tapped the sofa and said-" well you can put THAT back it is mine ! " - and turned to the removers and said "well I hope they have paid you cash, as they havent paid ME yet !"

[ and the ex tenants father commented: I will bite your nose off ]
but that as they say is another story
Someone once left their bike outside a charity shop while they were inside browsing the books, and when they came out it had been sold and gone!

Many years ago Kettering FC played Liverpool......I bought a white leather football and all the Liverpool players signed it....to be auctioned at an event I was organising for Oxfam.

I made a big display in the Oxfam shop window with the ball centre stage and details on how to bid for it.

When I went to the shop the next day....no ball in the window....

The two ladies serving that day had sold it to a man who had come in and asked about it.....

Honestly...they said....we couldn't believe our luck....he gave us 50p for a football that had been scribbled all over in ink......☺
better that people were rummaging for something they wanted rather than adding their rubbish to the trailers
Like your style Gness....
