If you whole-heartedly believed that in your life time humanity would either be inflicted with a terrible Armageddon or incur a transformation towards peace, equality, and abundance, how would each affect your attitude, behaviour, or actions, if at all, today?

When I was young and foolish, I believed that there would be either (nuclear) Armageddon or merely the risk of it. Decided against making any serious efforts to develop long term relationships or start a family. In later years, I may have rationalised that choice in other ways (health issues) but, when I thought about it, that was the original reason. I didn't discuss it openly, so none of my friends were aware of it and thus couldn't talk me around. Oops.

These days, I don't believe things; I seek proof. The proof of a forthcoming outbreak of worldwide hippydom is too thinly spread for me to perceive it. Being such a miserable git, I probably wouldn't get an invite. If I did, I'd still invest in some condoms first.

p.s. Spellcheck will not save you from errors where the mis-spelling is a valid word. Hence mixups like effects/affects. We know what you meant to type. ;)

I would stop correcting people's grammar but as its not going to happen, its "effects" not "affects"
I would do as I always do; work all day in my studio. When I used to smoke I stopped periodically for a cigarette, nowadays, as I have a PC in with me, I take a break by 'wasting time' on Answerbank, if Armageddon loomed, I'd probably have to drop the sorties into AB, stop prevaricating, and try to finish what I'm doing.
In the evenings I would start smoking again; - the finest Havana cigars I could find, with cognac ditto.
At my time of life I don't think I'll experience either, but I fear that an Armageddon situation is more likely to occur than world peace.

At a tragic devastating world wide disaster I wouldn't be around, but at world peace I would join Sandyroe in a celebratory cognac.
