Mikey, // The bigotry shown to one religion but not any others….//

If you feel it’s bigotry the obvious question to ask is ‘Why not the others?’ Think about it.

Hello Retro, nice to see you.
@Retrocop

//No. Not a typo. I believe the demo ,in this case,was about tuition fees.//

Well, it threw me completely because the OP was about a right-wing protest. Okay, you were trying to make a point about trouble being *more likely* to come from the left groups but half a sentence of introduction would have helped prevent it coming across as a a non sequitur.

//However, in my experience, whatever the theme of the demo is you will almost always find your usual SWP ,left wing rebel rousers //

Rightly or wrongly, when people say it, what I usually hear is "rabble rousers". Rebels are roused, to begin with. ;-)

//rousers, stirring up a demo deliberately whereas without that presence these demos should pass off peacefully. //

The paranoid part of me likes to believe that 'rent-a-mob' is actually driven by the spook squad, to discredit organisations that governments (of all colours) don't like.

//I have no doubt we will see SWP in Dudley as a counter demo and that is likely to be the tinderbox. //

I know. Strategy probably isn't their strong point. In order to prove that the EDL are genuinely bad, you have to ensure there are no excuses, like provocation by counter-marchers.

Then again, a no-show by the lefty groups would cause their own grassroots support to give them flak, so they're sort of obligated.

@bazwillrun

//well nows your chance to do so..do you or do you not approve of the Islamification of this country by stealth or any other way ?
Yes or No...its that simple//

No it is not that simple. We could end up talking at crossed purposes because we do not share opinions about what the term "Islamification" means, or entails, in day-to-day life. It would save space if you could set that out first.

As for "stealth", I don't think slapping Mosques all over the place qualifies as stealth. Worshipping at a shrine inside ones own house* is privacy, but stealth requires no obvious outward sign, such as clothing, mannerisms, constant wittering about god and so on.

The Masons are potentially something by stealth but outsiders don't quite know what they're up to. I happen to be atheist, so I know better than to attempt to join.

* Romans invented the apse, for this purpose. According to the bible (I can't quote C&V) Christian worship was supposed to be entirely private. The need to *be seen to* worship, presumably, came much later. People obviously didn't trust one another to keep the 'correct' faith. You can't have power and control over the populace when a chunk of them support heretical faiths.

Any thread about ISIS bombing a Syrian mosque (Shi'a) yet? If that happened here, might that get misattributed to right-wing thugs?

@AOG

Me: they were just being cocky about how things would be (ie how she'd be permitted to dress), when they "take over". It's sinister but it's not as if it's going to happen,

AOG: //And you are absolutely certain of that are you? //

I guess it is out of my hands, truth be told. I live in the countryside, so ethnic minorities are hard to spot and it makes a change from the usual, when I do. (I lived for a time in London and miss the variety). Bit I digress. If a threat is perceived, I am convinced action will be taken but people's sensitivities differ. Your claxon has been sounding since at least 2007, given some of your old posts that I've seen, in "Related threads"; other people are still in their toleration zone.

It would be interesting to hear an ecologist's view of what is going on but I suspect they would slam the verbal brakes on, at some point, for fear of getting caught in the racism mantrap.

//I may be wrong but I can never remember the EDL ever turning up to disrupt a Left-Wing protest.//

they are too new. It used to be the BNP, Combat 18 or other equivalents who used to do that. A name change works wonders to cover a stained reputation.

I confess I have never heard of the AFFFMAI. Not a very catchy name.

I expect there will be an handful of arrests, no one prosecuted, and £300K of policing money down the toilet.
Gromit....£300K of policing costs that we can no longer afford, due to the cuts.
PP....Retrocop isn't here to defend every mistake that the Met has made over the last few years, and its not really fair to expect him to.

The Met seem to have caught the chas responsible for the Hatton Garden raid, and retrieved most of the loot, so we should praise them where we can.
For chas, read chaps !
@mikey4444

I thought it was a misplaced v, myself!

Speaking of cuts, I saw a meme on Twitter the other day, to the effect that loyalty to the tories will cost some 10,400 (strangely specific number) officers their jobs.

Not that I should be proposing that protest marches are good for their job retention situation, or anything… that would be scurrilous. :-v

Hypo...I am always nervous of using the term "chav" as I am never entirely sure exactly how it is defined !

One of the ironies about the recent Tory triumph is that the very people who normally do well out of a Tory Government, ie the Police, may indeed be have signed their own redundancy papers, while putting their X in the Polling Booth.

On one issue alone, we actually need more Police, not less. Investigating historical and contemporary child sexual abuse is now proving to be a huge burden and drain on Police resources. It would be a pity for that enquiry to falter, now that at last, people are treating the issue seriously.

Mikey, are you ignoring my suggestion?
Isn't there a local paper with readers' comments, tony?
I think that might be interesting.
Question Author
I think they ( Express and Star ) choose which articles to allow readers to comment on, and it looks like this isn't one of them.
Wonder why, lol. ;-)
Question Author
LOL, can you ban your own readers.
