People are raving about this book I understand.

I struggled to get through about 70 pages then gave up and returned it to the library.

I found it very disjointed, with ridiculous descriptive passages (supposed to be arty I presume), and the author very egocentric.

This is of course only one personal opinion so I would be interested to kow other views.

What did anybody else think ?

I was very interested to read it but skimmed a bit in the bookshop and didn't like the style at all.

rule one. If people are raving about a book don't bother.
autobiographies are usually egocentric!

Yes, I know what you mean box. There was so much style it was hard to find the substance (which actually did look quite promising, but it just became too too tiresome to locate it)
Hmmm...after reading this thread,I went to Amazon and had a "look inside". I read the first chapter...and liked it. So I've downloaded it. Not what I'd usually choose, but who wants to be in a reading rut? :-)
