no you don't, however if you use your computer to stream live TV you do need a licence.
If you only watch catch up TV you don't.
No and Yes respectively (assuming you use computer to watch live TV.

You don’t need a TV Licence to watch on-demand services, like those on YouTube. However, some television websites – like iPlayer and ITV Player – offer live TV as well as on-demand TV. If anyone on your premises watches live TV, they’ll need to be covered by a TV Licence.
How do the authorities check that you have a TV license or not?
If your address doesn't have a paid TV licence on record Stuey they hound you to death with letters. I once went 10 years without a TV and there are only so many ways you can reply politely to them to say you haven't got a TV!
That sounds slightly "Big Brotherish", Captain2.
Oh yes, stuey - flippin' annoying
I use both, and they still insist I buy a licence for the TV :-(
Oh yes Capt'
Persecution is part of their fun.
Best to bin & ignore.
You can make an online declaration that you do not need a TV licence

Once you do this they only write to you once every 2 years to check you still do not need one, but they can call and check that you really do not need one.
The whole thing is becoming increasingly unworkable.

Somethings got to change.
Ive not had one for years. Tell them to do one if they come knocking at your door. Nowt they can do about it.
Whats going to happen if EVERYONE refused to buy a TV lisence? Are they going to switch your tv off?
As baldric mentions if you thinking of watching live tv on the computer via BBC i player or ITV player then yes you would need one BUT if you watch programmes, say an hour later than broadcast, then you dont need a licence at all and can watch what you like on the catch up on demand service. Listening to radio doesn't require a licence.

//Once you do this they only write to you once every 2 years to check you still do not need one,//
They write to me every 2 years EDDIE, and every 2 years I tell them that they can check on me if they show wish and that I am indeed viewieng live tv but its up to them to prove it. They have no right of way into my flat.
^^ so you are admitting that you are committing an offence nalit?
Do they not keep sending people to knock on your door?
//Do they not keep sending people to knock on your door?// They knocked once years ago and I told them they werent snooping around my home so dont bother coming back. They tried their best to get into my home but I knew that they didnt have any rights in law to access my home. Havnt been back since.
I refer to my previous answer, confirmed by nailit.
