was wondering how the ferries can create wifi on board, obviously no land line connection, i could understand satelite B/band to some extent but a constantly moving/rolling ship and a recieving dish, i can't see how that would work either. are there any of you ABers out there can tell me how they do it?

Many ferries remain close to a coast and so can use wifi from the cellular phone systems of neighbouring countries. That's how coastal and river cruise vessels do it:

Away from coastlines, ship use Maritime VSAT, which has the ship's antenna controlled by a computerised compass system:

A rival system is FleetBroadband, which operates in a similar way but uses GPS technology to tell the satellite system where to direct a beam to:
