Who were the first owners of the Rovers in Corrie?
I always thought it was Jack and Annie Walker but it is a bit of a minefield trying to find the answer on google etc.,
Am I right?

yes .
I think they were the landlords.
Was it not owned by the brewer, Newton and Ridley?
they bought the lease in 1937 according to google
Really?
I shall withdraw my answer forthwith, then.
I am by no means an expert on "Corrie"!
I wonder who they bought it from?
The original owners?
pete i wasn't doubting you ,just googled it and a load of stuff popped up lol
Oh no, Mally, I understand thatl
Just my brain turning it over.
If Jack and Annie bought the lease in 1937, they must have bought it from someone.
Which would indicate they were not the original owners. Or would it, if it was a brand new pub?
They were certainly "in charge" of it when the series started.
A tricky one, right enough!

Jack ans Annie would be the first owners that we saw.
Incidentally, Annie was so stuck up it's a wonder she allowed herself to stay in a grubby Manchester back street pub.
That was acting, Sandy!
