What Happens If My Car Is Written Off But Its Worth Less Than The Excess

So following on from my last question I have something linked I am curious about..

If my car is written off and my excess exceeds the value of the car what do the insurance pay out, it is an older car, and my excess is quite high,

^^^That, of course, applies to the 'fully comp' element of your insurance. The insurer will still meet their obligation to pay out in respect of third party claims but expect you to pay the excess element.

Correct Buenchico - except, as has been debated before, there cannot be an excess on the third party element of a claim.
