My friend who was pregnant with twins went to A&E after her waters broke at 21 weeks. She was taken in and then given an injection to stop the contractions. She was then left on a trolley for 5 hours until seen again. she said it was mainly immigrants which were there (not being racist) who didn't look in bad shape at all. Anyway after 5 hours she was admitted to hospital where she is now.

Is this normal? I remember going in 8 years ago with a gash on my head and within2 hours I was stitched up and on my way.

What is happening? We should all take medical health cover or something. I feel terrible and I hope my friend doesnt lose the babies :(

It isn't just contractions though. The waters have broken. They might be able to give a jab to stop the contractions but they can't put the water back in!
ummmm...we are dealing here, with a woman who's membranes have ruptured at 21 weeks..............no big deal as compared to membranes rupturing after ..37 weeks.

"Putting the water" back is not an option at either end of pregnancy.
eh? membranes rupturing at 21 weeks is an extermely big deal and will most likely result in a poor outcome for the pregnancy - theyy may be able to limp her on till 24 weeks, but even then, amniotic fluid aids lung development, so even if they hold on till viability age, they are not likely to survive.
I agree that the treatment wouldn't make any difference if it was delivered on a trolley or in a bed, except to the comfort of the mother
Sqad...why is it a big deal if the waters break at 37 weeks?

Exactly bednobs, it's a very big deal with quite a high risk of infection.
