Does anyone know what a coke/diet coke/ can is made out of?
On the cab it says "metal - widely recycled". I'm sure it used to be aluminium, not even coca cola customer services can elaborate.

google coca cola tins metal .it says all tins made in usa are aluminum
Unfortunately not ever coke/diet coke can is aluminum. The easiest way of testing is by just seeing if they are magnetic or not.

i can confirm that it is aluminium

If they Are aluminium, they DON'T stick to the magnet- correct?
its not magnetic
That's the easiest way of testing any can to see whether it is aluminium or not.
Of course it's aluminium...what else could it be? Tin-plated steel....which it obviously isn't.
gingejbee in the words of thumpers mum if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all lol
Gold, liquid gold perhaps, given the profit that they make.
It probably was originally all aluminium but as it now states recycled I'd guess it's mainly aluminium but has trace other stuff mixed in by being recycled (tin for example) so they have to be strict and not specify.
Prudie...you misunderstand. The can is widely recycled ie it can be recycled in most places.
What do I misunderstand??? It's a suggestion as to why it's labelled 'metal - widely recycled'
any can carry alloys - the thing is passing FDA rules. They separate the metals by melting them down during recycling, tin and aluminium having very different melting points, tin@232C, aluminium 660C
"Metal- widely recycled" means....this item is made of metal and can be recycled in most places.
The can does not state that it is made of recycled material...which is what your explanation suggests.
Recycled ally is worth 50p a kilo. Collect cushed cans & earn.

Well if we're going for semantics it could be either
metal - (can be) widely recycled (your view)
metal - (has been) widely recycled (my view).
I'm not really bothered about either but I would wonder if you are so 100% correct it is not labelled
aluminium - widely recycled
or in other words, every 660.66667 cans drunk is worth a fiver, or 1333 will see you with a hundred quid's worth.
sorry 13333 cans - that's a lot of trash in your back garden.
or you would have to drink over 36 cans a day to do this in a year....and remember, you are going to spend a lot more on toilet paper and dieting than the financial gain that you make.
