Every time I cook one of Youngs already battered fish in the oven there is a lot of smoke being created. Anybody know of how to do it without all this smoke ?

I used to have the same problem with Young's battered fish, I put it down to my 14 year old noisy oven (electric). So, was disappointed when the same thing happened in my new oven (also elec), but not quite on the same scale. Soon discovered that 160 degrees in a pre-heated fan assisted oven, for 25 mins(as apposed to the recommended 200 degrees), is all that is...

Clean the oven and bin Young's battered fish - the one and only time I tried it
it tasted like cardboard - I took it back to Waitrose and got my money back times two.
I'd go the fresh fish route and a nice recipe - there are some lovely simple ones out there......
it's always nice to cook a fresh fish meal, sometimes it's just handy have something in the freezer for a quick and tasty snack. I know fresh fish is quick to cook and ever so simple, but that's useless when you're not in the mood for fish the day you do your shopping
such as this....? one can use frozen fish....defrosted.

don't light your cigarette
I can do it without smoke as well.. Maybe you should decrease the temperature a little bit, maybe your oven has the wrong inner temperature. If this is not the case change the cooking menue..
