Did anyone watch it? I did and thought it was rubbish, a waste of my time lol, glad I didn't pay to see it. A load of hype about nothing, both boxers hardly threw a punch and Mayweather just ran away and tried to tie Manny up, if I was one of the judges I would've called it a 'no contest'!!

Summed up rather well by the BBC correspondent: "And, lo, a fight finally broke out in Las Vegas. Sort of. If that was the 'Fight of the Century' so far, it's a good job there are another 85 years to go" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/boxing/32574434

It was only rubbish because of the high expectations.
From a purely boxing aspect, Mayweather fought the perfect fight. Not exciting for the viewer but a very competent display nonetheless.
It is about time this aggressive practice (I won't call it sport) was banned just as cock fighting and bear baiting etc is banned.

But along with steeple chasing, bull fighting etc it will not be banned by the EU, simply because it has so much money attached to it.

Incidentally the Floyd-Mayweather has been said to have a record of a domestic abusive past, is it any wonder?

It was a fight for the purist.
Because there was no knock out or blood flowing does not make
it 'rubbish'
Talbot is quite right.
Don't ban boxing. It is a great sport that men and women choose to do, unlike animal baiting where the animals have no choice.

Bring back bare knuckle boxing, there were far fewer punches to the head in those days, simply because it hurts so much to land a punch there.
@hc4361....If minor 'punch-ups' are pulled in AB, I certainly wouldn't like to witness gloves being fully removed....especially for ridiculous purses.

Hans.
Bare knuckle boxing is probably safer than gloved boxing, Hans. Many experts believe it is a lot safer.
@hc4361.....Please let us agree to disagree about bare knuckle fighting.

My Great Grandfather was a bare fisted pugilist who lost his last fight but his opponent died a few weeks later from his injuries.

My point exactly Buenchico ............
My grandfather was a bare-knuckle fighter, he participated in 'illegal fight nights, where he made money to keep his wife and nine children. This was as a side line to his job as a labourer. He was a tough man.
