The button of the land-line phone (old-fashioned) you know where the hand-set presses on is stuck - I would say I have spilt a little water on it at some stage. I have prised it out and now I am keeping the hand-set off it (to try and dry it out) Is there anything I can wipe the button with so it will pop up - it is not damp or anything and it is plastic. Thank you.

does the phone still work?
Question Author
yes
You could try soaking a Q-Tip with oil and wiping it around the plunger...Or even maybe Vaseline.

thanks stuey - will try that - would WD40 do the trick cos I think I have some.
You could try that. Don't get anything soaking wet with it though. Apply it, and then work it up and down a few times.
WD40 would probably help, but don't spray it directly on the button. That would put too much on, and you'd have to wipe it all off. Spray a cloth or a tissue, squeeze out any surplus, and wipe the button lightly.

Yes it has worked - thank you very much.
Question Author
Yes I did spray onto a QTip - it has worked a treat and now I am back to having my phone in the bedroom - you do need it particularly if you are in the b-room or here in the computer room. JjCon
