'kick It Out' Tell Hartlepool To Banned Fans

Hartlepool United fans have planned a fancy dress 'Bob Marley' theme for their last game of the season. Fans will don dreadlock wigs and rata colours.
This follows a similar last day dress up last year when hundreds of fans watched the final game dressed as Smurfs.

However, 'Kick it Out' the anti racism in football campaigners have told Hartlepool fans that they mustn't 'blacken up' for the part. And have insisted that any fans arriving that are blackened up, be refused admittance to the ground.

Are 'Kick it Out' right to insist on such a ban?

You ask 'Why a Bob Markey theme?' But not bat an eyelid at a Smurf theme day.
Same could be said for children happily collecting their Robertson's Gollys.
Who decided that these innocent kids were racist? Shows more about children's diversity then than the recent schoolchild/Clegg encounter when the kiddy told Clegg he would vote UKIP if he was old enough to get rid of the immigrants, Some leftie do gooder shot themselves in the foot when that harmless hobby was banned.
Perhaps they wish to pay homage to Bob Marley. There's a lot of dressing up done by cricket supporters which nobody seems to mind, possibly a greater sense of humour in the cricketing world?
A storm in a teacup. Its probably just an excuse to smoke lots and lots of ..err..herbal cigarettes.
"Well if you're going to use actual black paint to black up and wear a funny wig to appear hilarious then yes it is racist"

hilarious...get over yourself
/the eyes seem unnaturally white ^?

Hmm..not sure if srs but most peoples eyes are white but those are the cutouts which you cut out so you can see out of.

I feel this is the way to proceed when imitating a non white famous person as you're actually wearing their face as someone already said is a homage to the person in question.

We have to be frank here and agree that black makeup and stupid wigs are just lazy and offensive unless you're a famous actor alongside a black actor that doesn't mind like this scene

but then again it may not be offensive to the black actor but could be offensive to millions of others.

Hmmm, confusing. I'll have to ask some of my black pals what they think of this scene which I'll do today and then I'll report my findings.

/get over yourself/

Sorry but I've never really understood that term. What exactly are you trying to say?
why am i not surprised...judging by the naivety of your last couple of posts.
Google is your friend.... use it !

"We have to be frank here and agree that black makeup and stupid wigs are just lazy and offensive "....hilarious....again

we dont have to be anything, im not offended in any way or form..and please dont try and tell me who or what etc i should or shouldnt be agreeing with...its extremely irritating
/please dont try and tell me who or what etc i should or shouldnt be agreeing with...its extremely irritating/

Wow,f I was as easily irritated, angered or enraged at such little things I wouldn't use the internet which is filled with many offensive things.
its right on trendy liberals that i find irritating not the internet...

and Im not like you , but yet again youre trying to tell me what and what i shouldnt do......sheeeesh
"Every day I watch the Jeremy Kyle show"

ok, thats says it all really.......
No comments from the easily offended regarding Sol Campbell whiting-up.

Why doesn't that surprise me?
Because Sol Campbell whiting up wasn't for a party. It was to get a message across.

You know that though, AOG!!
Hartlepool is famous as the place where they 'hung the monkey'. Perhaps there is something latent here.
One must ask "why choose a Bob Marley themed fancy-dress day"?

You're right AOG.......Elvis would have been much better to get the message over.
"We have to be frank here and agree that black makeup and stupid wigs are just lazy and offensive..."

Not only is that incredibly arrogant, it is also completely wrong.
I should qualify my answer...

It can be wrong if the intention is to ridicule.

If I went to party dressed-up as one of my musical heroes, Rick James, given that he is one of my heroes how could it possibly be racist?
