Just watching the news about the baby that died and his kidneys were used in a transplant to an adult.

If the kidneys from a baby are tiny, how do they function in an adult ?

They gradually take over all the function and grow to do this. It takes weeks to months for this to happen, while it is happening, the person carries on dialysis.

So the kidneys grow. Thought that must be the case.
Thanks Woof. x
It's amazing, isn't it? And the baby's parents get so much comfort from it, too.

Brave decision by the parents.
Yes.
The most uplifting story I've seen for ages - restores your faith in the goodness of people.
I saw them on This Morning. Unbelievable couple ! They perfectly balanced their happiness at having Noah with celebrating Teddys life. I was in awe of their strength.
A wonderful story of human endurance.

I read recently of a liver which had been transplanted from a child to an adult. I'll look for the link.
We take our bodies for granted most of the time...it's at times like this we take a step back and salute it.
Can't find a link for child to adult liver transplant. Sorry.Might have been something else.
Was worthy of highlighting though.
I rang the Mirror about this story, I said that they had their facts wrong, my baby died in 1971 she only lived for 40 minutes, we donated her skin for a badly burnt child, the chap on the phone was quite nasty, he said skin isn't an organ!!!
Rubbish! Of course the skin is an organ...it's the body's biggest organ and can be transplanted....

A lovely thing you did, Puss....x
These are the sort of people who should be on the Honours List, not Civil Servants who have done the job they've been paid for.
Very traumatic at the time gness.
Agreed, Bhg.....

I know, Puss......when MrG was donated his kidney my heart broke for the family of the young woman who had died so suddenly....x
What a wonderful gesture by the parents, and a lasting memorial to the baby.
