You've got to admit it is tacky, mock tudor and that castle turret.

Knock it down
Medieval Tudor Georgian is a pretty rare architectural style; a shame the only one in the country has to be pulled down.
Shame it has to come down, now if it was built on Dale Farm then he could have lived in it for years.

/// I saw this building on a TV documentary about 18 months ago. It is, in my opinion, one of the ugliest dwellings I've ever seen on telly. ///

Really?

That's not a dwelling, AOG.
Your second link wasn't there when I posted........

You may not like the Tower Hamlets development, but at least it was built with the proper permissions in place.
I have come across this story before.

I hate wanton destruction but one can not allow such blatant abuse of the rules. And no one has come up with a suitable alternative.

Maybe some American, disappointed at not being able to buy "London Bridge", may wish to dismantle it and ship it home ?
AOG , still no replyto my question as to how you would feel if this 'lovely building ' was built by an immigrant to house a large family?
Aaaah it is lovely it is

and worth around half a mill ......

as retrocop says so often ( well he would wouldnt he he is an ex cop ) there are rules and we have to obey them...

Macca ( one of the delightful mop-headed Beatles ) was forced to pull down his secluded lakeside chalet because someone must have told .... no planning permission, (must have put in a bog)

// AOG , still no replyto my question as to how you would feel if this 'lovely building ' was built by an immigrant to house a large family?//

yeah lovely building and could be used to house a muslim wiv three wives ( yeah ) after all one of the Tudor kings had twice that many !
not palaces - wives
your first link is to a nursery, aog (for children, not plants) - I'd have though a brightly coloured place like that would be very appropriate.

Though it'd need cleaning from time to time to get rid of dirt accumuilating in the crevices, and I bet nobody will bother
If he did get planning permission the 10 acres of land he bought in 1986 would increase in value at least 10 x . It is classed as agricultural land but with a legally built house on it would be become classed as residential land worth a minimum of 10x as much! He would have gained a lot more than a £million house.
Building land in Surry over £2.2 million an acre and he has 10 acres !

If he had got away with it his land would have been worth about £25 million!!!.
The lengths he took to try to deceive everyone, flouting the planning laws, he knew he was in the wrong. I think he should be made to take it down. It is a lovely home, and such a shame. Was all that deceit worth it now?
AOG

I would like you to confirm something, and I promise, I am not going to attack your answer.

Do you really think that Mr Fidler's home is 'lovely', or did you insert that word for...for...dramatic effect?
And by the way - I don't think that the building you linked to is ugly. I have always like Piet Mondrian's work and I can see influences in the building design, so for me, that's a thumbs up.

I've seen much worse (Mr Fidler's Tudor/Gothic monstrosity springs to mind).
I was sure that AOG was being sarcastic. In my view that house is hideous looks like it was built as part of a theme park!
I like OG's solution and if Mr Fidler sees it he'll cop on and be quids in...x
