Have been up and down the M6 a lot recently and have come upon traffic ahead braking hard an tailing back The cause, those chevron areas "keep 2 part" I think they cause more problems. Traffic moving along nicely then drivers slowing to keep the gap.

When I was driving for a living, many times the office used to ring me whilst the lorry was in motion, my reply, I'm driving then put the phone down, is that hard to understand?
Instead of persons rubbishing my answer, I wish you would be as quick to look up if the caller could get prosecuted.
But how does the caller know you're driving?
I appreciate you may have felt in a difficult position as it was your employer calling but with hands free systems I don't see you have a leg to stand on.

If I was to call you now how could I be held responsible for interrupting you whilst driving, eating your supper or entertaining Mrs TWR?

In my case I was en-route to my destination.
There's as much chance of the caller being prosecuted as there is of the sender of a letter being charged when the envelope's used to start an arson atteck.
//If you are an employer, you can be prosecuted if you ask employees to make or receive calls while driving.//

//Calling someone when they're driving
Callers play an important role. If you ring someone on their mobile phone who turns out to be driving when they answer, say you'll call them later and hang up.//

I'm glad some person with knowledge has checked this out. Bluetooth or not, It is still a distraction & can cause the driver to kill some one.
He texts back 'I'm driving' and swerves across three lanes.
My mobile is ringing and I am driving. What should I do?
The safest bet is to leave it ringing and call the person back once you are no longer driving and are parked in a safe location. Even just picking up the phone to say ‘I’m driving, I’ll call you back’ is illegal. If you are working and it is your boss ringing, you should make sure they know that they should forbid employees to answer company mobiles if they are driving. If they fail to do so they may well be liable in the event of an accident or a prosecution.
