How does it work? If a parent successfully appeals does another parent get a letter saying his child has lost his place?

It seems to be a real headache, very glad I'm not in that position
An appeal is only successful if there is a space. My daughter went through the appeal system and my grandson had to go to the other school until a space became available. It depends if someone leaves the area or takes their child out of the school.
