Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Easter is almost upon us and while the kiddies may enjoy gorging on the chocolate it is not ideal so how about some healthy but yummy alternative treats instead?

how about some tasty oaty biscuits:

http://www.kidspot.com.au/best-recipes/Baby+3/Oaty-crisp-biscuits-recipe+3185.htm

These have honey as a sweetener and no sugar!

Chocolate covered strawberries or other fruit is also a good way to reduce the sugar especailly if you use good quality dark chocolate, or you could use a yoghurt or creme freche dip instead.

This is making me hungry and I might do the yoghurt fruit dip with some chopped bananas, peaches or even dried apricots (although these do have a sugar coating I think).

It can be difficult if you are around your kids or grandchildren but these are a great start :-)

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

OG certainly not easy when you break off from your usual routine . I am like that when my grandson is here more in school holidays . I can't just watch him eat that cake I have to have one too . Only remedy for that is not buy them then my grandson would miss out on his cake . Can't win lol
I think we all need time out now and then OG and Wendilla. As long as we don't do it too often or go completely mad it can be controlled and all of us have worked too hard to loose the plot.
Good morning all,

Another week another trip to the scales and I hope they leave you with a smile on your face. Remember that they should be on a hard surface and not a carpet.
Morning xstitcher and all I have stayed the same again . Not complaining with that .
I agree Wendilla. It's acceptable, but not jump up and down for joy either. If your pattern stays true to form you should be jumping next week.
:-(
Up another lb.
I thought things were supposed to improve when the weather got better.
I've stayed the same this week but have high hopes for next week!

Sometimes you can feel that you're on a losing streak even if the scales disagree. After a long Easter and series of family celebrations I finally feel in control again now. Maintaining the same weight despite a couple of meals out this week has been a good achievement.

My tip for the week is to watch what you drink.

Avoiding alcohol is fairly essential if you want to lose weight and be careful not to replace it with a sugary soft drink if you're out with friends. Go for water with ice and a slice. If you like to have soft drinks at home, chose a squash with no added sugar. No more fizzy drinks or rich cordials. Be careful too with cappuccinos and lattes made with full fat milk. Instead ask for skinny and resist the chocolate sprinkles!

Here's some information about orange juice for example.

An 8 oz. glass of orange juice contains 112 calories, 21 g of sugar and only 0.1 g of fiber. A whole orange, on the other hand, only contains 45 calories and 9g of sugar while providing 2.3 g of dietary fiber. Eating the whole fruit will give you a bit of the sweet taste you crave in fruit juice, while costing you just a fraction of the sugar and calories.
In my case the 'what I've eaten' log shows I'm simply not achieving. I need to find discipline again. That said the figures look more as I'd expect 'stay the same' would be, rather than 'going up'. I'm now back as I was February, and even January since I didn't drop much between those months.
I'm down another kilo to 69k but can't shift this stubborn flab, so onward and downward!
I found your comments so interesting Maydup and OG. I make my own cappuccino using what we call mini milk which is lighter than light milk and it makes superb foam. I mix cinnamon and Stevia for my topping sprinkle.
I'm no expert here Jomlett but by flab do you mean loose skin as a result of your weight loss? If so I would think a doctor would be the person to talk to.
This is a not talked about result of a bug weight loss.
No it's flab. Muffin top over the belt buckle!
How about exercises for the waist?
I'll try that, xs. thanks.
Jomlette good tip about the Orange juice . My supermarket has super oranges this week but. I have to limit them

OG yes discipline it is and that is what I need more of .

Well done Maydup . XSTiTCHER is right . I would have a look on google for special excercise said just for that part or have a word with Dr .
I have just realised I have mixed up replies to jomlette and Maydup
Good luck Jomlett
Good evening all,
I haven't been able to get weighed since 18 March but did so today....with great trouble I might add....but the result is that I have lost 10 pounds since then.....mostly due to my illness and lack of appetite I expect, but there you are. I've now reached my goal but will stay here. You'll not get rid of me that easily.
Congratulations, Xstitcher for reaching your goal!!! (Sorry that you've been not well). I'm sure you will be good at maintaining it because you've got the determination. :-)
