Hi,

I am hoping someone will have an answer to my very recent problem. I have had a Freeserve email address for over 14 years and never had any trouble with it despite several changes - Freeserve - Wanadoo - Orange - now EE.

My email was operating normally until lunchtime on Saturday11th April. By 10pm that night I had a message saying that this email address - quote as follows -

" login information for POP server (pop.freeserve.com) has changed or is incorrect. Please check your account settings."

I have had to prior warning about this change nor did I change anything, re settings.

If someone has the answer to this please tell me what to do in the simplest of terms as I am not tech savvy as you can probably tell.

Thanks in advance.

I assume that you're using an email client such as Outlook Express, Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail. Go into your account settings and change the POP server to pop.orangehome.co.uk and the SMTP server to smtp.orangehome.co.uk. According to EE's website, those are the correct settings:
http://ee.co.uk/help/mobile-and-home-connections/broadband-gallery-mobile-broadband/standard-broadband/setting-up-standard-broadband/ee-broadband-settings

(NB: If you don't know how to change the settings, please tell us which email program you're using, so that we can provide instructions).

Alternatively try access your email account through your web browser, using this link:

Hi Carriesmum, I'm in exactly the same situation. from what I've read online we are not alone. A lot of frustrated customers without email on orange/wanadoo/freeserve email addresses using EE. Some people have been lucky after long waits on the customers services phone line by getting their accounts back to normal. If I was you I wouldn't make any changes to your settings as it seems to be a EE cockup. Maybe phone them and be prepared for a long wait or wait and see if they can sort it out? I'm fed up with their constant problems so spent yesterday going to every website I have an account and switched my email addresses to my backup email account at yahoo. My online life is now back to normal. Good luck. Paul

Thanks to all who responded. I am "fortunate" to have an EE shop close to home so I went in and explained the difficulties and with two phone calls to their tech team my email was restored and my broadband.

Can't say fairer than that really. I hope the people who responded to my initial question are helped as I was.
