On a recent "Four In A Bed" programme , two of the contestant's on there said the best way to cook a sausage was put it in the oven. Being an ex butcher I maintain the best way is by frying. Putting sausages in the oven makes the skins tough, especially natural skins

I cook my favourites in the oven at 200 degrees for 40 minutes, turning halfway through - seems to work fine for me!
I always overfill my homemade bangers and they really do bang when fried!
Grilling gives good colour and gets fat out, but the oven is the safe option
Prefer mine done in the oven, don't like the smell of frying sausages.
As the daughter of a master sausage maker I only oven bake quality cumberland sausages. If hog skins are used they are fine but I'm not keen on lamb skins used for thinner sausages and as for Devro skins *spits on the floor*.
