They are captive born and well used to zoo life.
Because they are well fed and don't feel under threat. Many of them would have been born in a zoo environment so don't know any different.
the reflex has been extinguished ....
I don't think lions get agitated in the wild either as long as they're not hungry. Zoo animals are well fed so no reason to get uptight.
All too bored to move.
Maybe it is because they are not in any danger or feel threatened ?
Cats are weird. They look all calm and in control but they can be totally freaked out about something. The body language can be difficult for us mere humans to understand.

I saw a video clip of a lion at a zoo stalking and attacking a toddler. Alas it was so focused on 'the kill' it forgot the huge sheet of glass/perspex.

Thank You Wolf 63, thats the one I was after!!

You see Phleb, they can get nasty, especially if you shove an orses ead andle in its ear :-)
Hope you enjoyed that video thanks to wolf63.
lions don't move a whole lot in the wild; they mostly just sprawl in the shade and wait for the lionesses to catch something for dinner
Oh, come on. If you were a lion or a tiger resident in a Zoo, never having been aware of any other environment, fed regularly, and health matter all taken care of, would you get 'agitated' at a group of puny, gawping human beings running around making ridiculous noises whilst they admire you ?
I think not, surely.
