I'm on the verge of going to the GP and asking for a thyroid test. With the following symptoms, would that be a fair request:

a) Always tired.
b) Aching shoulders/neck/elbows (although a family history of arthritis)
c) Always seem to be either cold or having hot sweats - menopause was 3-4 years ago.
d) Depressed.
e) Get headaches.
f) Dry skin on hands and legs.

I'm three stone overweight but have been for a long time. I lost a stone and a half about a year ago and have kept most of it off.

It seems that you have some synptons of hypothyroidism, so definitely worth asking for a test.
Hypothyroidism doesn't spring to mind with those symptoms, but as Cloverjo says, it is worth asking for thyroid blood tests.
Saxy, menopause can be a very long stretch. Do see the doctor though & get his opinion x

Think I'll go and see him on Tuesday. I'll start by telling him what I think I might have and then see what he has to say.

Cheers all.
