/// The Government will introduce a new law with the power to jail those inciting binge-drinking for up to a year and fine them up to €15,000 (£12,000). ///

Perhaps that's not such a bad idea, perhaps we should do the same in Britain?

Chrissa // "Back in my day" Pubs closed at 10.30 with only a handful of clubs allowed to have late licenses. We certainly didn't see young people spewing up in the gutter or, police being tied up in the early hours with drunken brawls.
We went home. //

I'm afraid you're very wrong about that. It all just happened at different times.
I agree with chrissa.

so puking in the gutter from drink only started in the yr 2000 ?
I dont think so

I think in your day they all came up to my part of the city and did it there
I'm not saying it Never happened "back in my day" PP, but back in the 60's and 70's, and even later, there just wasn't the availability of late night drinking to be had in Every major city across the land.

The Labour government gave pub and club landlords Carte Blanche to make more money and make city and town centres, no-go areas after 11 o'clock.

By the way, while I'm answering your point, can I ask you, why do you always seem to answer a post with two replies, one after the other? It's intrigued me for a while. :)
