Original Ipad Reset Issue

I had an ipad original and gave it my son. Now he has given it back as I got him an ipad air 2. I have tried to reset it to put my account on and it is asking for a four digit code. i have tried the one's we think it could be but nothing is accepted. When I originally passed the ipad onto my son and I reset it so he could set up his own account it never asked for a code. Can anyone advise? I would also appreciate any advice on how or if I can get an older kindle app that will allow me to read on the original. Thank you in advance.

Go to the App Store and Search for Kindle and download that. Put in your Amazon name and password and should then show your ebooks.

Did you try to reset, through the Settings > General > Reset options or by the reboot holding both the power and home buttons?

jomlett i cannot do that as the app in the app store is a version the original ipad wont accept. not 100% on numbers but ipad is 5.1.1 and the current kindle is 7.0.0 or something like that. need to find out how to get older version of kindlle. i know it can be done but done recall where i read how to do it.

tryed reset via settings and thats when it asks for code. didnt know about other way shall try that.

When you Reset did you start as New or your previous iCloud account?

it wont let me reset, thats the issue. it asks for a passcode and we've tried the ones it could be. when we first reset it for son to have it never asked and we just did a factory reset so was just ipad acct details. i dont use cloud so we havent done anything via that.

If it asks for A passcode then it should ask you to repeat that password.

If you have a computer with iTunes you can put the iPad in Recovery mode.

it hasnt asked for a password, i expected something like a bit to click if youve forgot but there is none. i dont have itunes on laptop but will download and connect to try that.
