30 odd flipping days of false smiles / shaking hands / kissing babies / pretending they are your/my friends

Is there any reason why the election campaign couldn't be limited to say two weeks ?

Afterall , i would have thought that most people have made up their mind already as to what party they are going to put a tick against

Most people have, its the floaters that will make the difference so I guess they think they need 30 days to persuade them.

A week would b enough for me though.
Kissing babies and puppies is easy. I will vote for the party who has a candidate brave enough to hug/kiss a kitten or cat.

The subsequent visit to A&E should open their eyes to queues!

There is a lot of organisation which takes time. Candidates have to be nominated, polling stations and postal votes organised. I believe the minimum period between dissolution and an election is three weeks.

Yes , but we now have a fixed term parliament , so we know what date that the current parliament must end .
So any organising/preparations can be done months in advance
with fixed term parliaments "Candidates have to be nominated, polling stations and postal votes organised" could easily be done before the dissolution.
And 30 odd days of the news section being swamped by political threads, short of a major happening in the political world, lets channel these political to and fros into the sub-section 'POLITICS'
Doubt many look in there on a regular basis, AOG. I think all the sub-categories should be on view permanently. They might get used rather more then.
After the mess the last Labour government made I am suprised that they are neck and neck with the Tories. Even the threat of the SNP holding the balance power in Government makes no difference. One thing is certain though, the North will still vote Labour.
