Staiths, Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby. In fact anywhere but Brid.
RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs - lovely place for a walk and to see some wildlife.

Oh come along now. David Hockney bought a house in Brid whilst doing the work for his last RA exhibition, so surely there's some good.....
Seriously, lovely fossil-hunting opportunities along the beaches there

Whitby, which will be busy this weekend, start there for fossil hunting and jet, Scarborough is a bigger town and would have been a little more interesting. Brid is Ok but I can't exactly recommend anything. We go because my BIL lived there and a few friends of ours. Ok to look around the town, the beach is clean and a funfair for the children near the beach. Bempton Cliffs. Enjoy your weekend, hope it keeps fine.
I've spent many happy hours at Brid, when we used to fish from there, but I have to agree with zac the place has become a bit run down and there's not much to do especially if youve got kids with you and the weathers bad.Head off up the coast for a few miles, the scenery is better and at Whitby you've got some interesting sights to see plus there is always the chance you will meet a certain famous superstar and marigold expert while you are roaming the town.
I honestly cannot think of anything to do at Brid apart from go somewhere else.
Naturally I am biased towards Whitby but you won't see me. I never set foot out of the door on a Bank Holiday weekend as the town is full of tourists ;-)
(I lie. If the weather is decent there will be the first giant car boot sale of the year and I will be there.)
Robin Hoods Bay is a must as it is one of the prettiest places I know
Go to Flamborough and walks along Flamborough head. The Seabird on main road in Flamborough does a good meal. Also Burton Agnes Hall is really interesting and a good visit. Otherwise, I would also suggest a look around the Wolds villages (I am now lucky enough to live in one YAAAY!) and finding the sites of some of Hockney's paintings --good tearooms at Sledmere). The Wolds way offers great walking. There really are some great places to visit
