hi all, does anyone know how long it takes to get a tax disc refund now there is no returning the disc on a V14 form. i taxed my car middle of feb so it could be test driven and sold it/sent off log book before end of feb. i had notification of this from DVLA at least 3 weeks ago but no money put back in my bank yet and i want to tax my other van on wednesday but i am relying on this money to do so. i'm sure it used to only take a couple of weeks untill a checque came in the past

Try a phone call to DVLA: 0300 790 6802. (They're open until 7pm).
(I was going to do it for you but then I realised that they might ask for the details of the vehicle you've sought a refund for, so it's probably best if you do it yourself).
In my experience it has taken 3 weeks to a month, I suppose it depends how busy they are.

thanks both for your answers, and thanks Buenchico for the phone number. i'll try them later.
Are you sure it wasn't with the notification. My son scrapped his car and had both back and it was in a cheque and not into his bank.

thanks shedman,I only had a small slip of paper about the size of a cheque saying "we acknowledge the tranfer of mitsubishi warrior --54---", and nothing else, you had me panicking for a few minutes as i wasn't sure whether i kept it or not.
When my son sent off the slip saying he had got rid of his car it didn't ask for his bank account so probably still send them by cheque as they did with him.
When I sold my car recently the DVLA sent me a refund in 2 or 3 weeks automatically.
