Recommendations For Printers

Predominantly to print photos, graphs, ie school homework. Want to pay not much over £100.

The brand name that is most frequently recommended by ABers seems to be the same one that most frequently wins 'Best Buy' awards in the technical press. It's the Canon Pixma range.

The cheapest printers within that range use a single cartridge for all three colours and they can be expensive to replace, so it makes sense to pay a little more for a printer that uses separate cartridges for the colours (as you'll save far more in the long run).

Those are the criteria that I used when selecting my own printer (a Canon Pixma MG5350) and I'm totally delighted with it. That model has now been discontinued but the Pixma MG550 is almost a direct replacement for it. I've previously recommended it to people on here when it been priced at around £70 and then when it's been offered at £60 or even as low as £50 but it's now available for around just £40, which is really amazing. (I paid £80 for my MG5350, and that was on special offer, so half that price for what is effectively the same printer is almost unbelievable!):

So £60 will buy you both an outstanding printer (which you couldn't better if you paid several times its price) and enough ink to keep you supplied for ages.
