Hi

My mum has just bought herself a new mobile phone, but she is not very technically-minded. She is having trouble understanding the instructions & I wondered whether anyone could kindly explain in plain english!!!

She would like to know the following:

1) How do find & use CAPITAL LETTERS (HIGHER CASE) when typing/ sending a text message; &

2) How to adjust the volume on the phone

My mum would really appreciate the help

The volume key is on the side of the phone. See page 18:

Unfortunately the manual doesn't mention capitals. With some phone though, pressing and holding the key for a specified letter enables the user to cycle through various options for that letter. e.g. pressing and holding 'e' displays 'E', 'é' and other variations in sequence. Releasing the key when the chosen alternative is shown selects it.
Looking at the picture, the asterisk * key doubles as a shift key, so at a guess, if you press ** the next letter you type will be a capital.
Further to TheChair's post, some phones display 'abc' on the screen when typing in lowercase. Pressing * one or more times changes it to 'Abc' (which means that just the next letter will be in capitals or 'ABC' (which means that everything will be in capitals).
