How kind of you! Thank you!

I am really enjoying pickinh hymns xx
Communion hymn - Soul of my Saviour - a good solemn one .
Closing hymn - Guard and Guide me Great Redeemer - a rousing finale .
I always felt 'bring flowers of the rarest' had a definite music hall lilt to it. One of my faves was 'hail to the gloriest in the heights'
Many because I lived in a place called Irlams o'th'Heights in Salford and it was a kind of anthem.
Unlike the Methodists, Roman Catholics were not renowned for hymn singing. When I was in the RAF I used to play the organ in the RC chapel, mainly because the RAF paid me another 8s per week on top of my wages. The congregation had a repertoire of just 4 hymns which the priest would alternate, 2 one week and the other two the next.
Agreed Jackdaw. The Chapels beat the micks on singing any day of the week.
When my daughter got married the organist advised us to use very well known hymns as not so many people know them these days. Just a thought. Hope you have a lovely day x
