When I type on my Dell inspiron laptop the letters sometimes just jump to another line. Sometimes a whole sentence moves. I have tried just about everything to fix it. I bought a new keyboard, tested the memory modules and bought a wireless mouse so I don't have to use the touchpad.
Has anybody got a solution to my problem ?

The touchpad may still. e active and reacting to you inadvertantly touching it.
I have this problem with my work Dell laptop sometimes, also it sometimes deletes things I have been typing. I have found a small button on the keyboard next to the shift key - I think some of the problems arise if I touch that by mistake.
Havelo, I have the same problem with my laptop.

I have tried adopting a ' high wrist' tehnique and am definitely not touching/brushing the touchpad or unwanted keys.

I wonder if the keypad is so sensitive that it responds to 'proximity' passes of the hand, although I am careful not to go anywhere near it when typing.

Good point methyl - I always use an external mouse but nonetheless, I still manage to touch keys I didn't mean to, when moving my left fingers to the caps lock or shift keys.

I changed the keyboard to a new one-still the same.
It happens anywhere -typing e-mail or using Word.
Happens to me unless I switch off the touch pad
