I have a pair of very ordinary black recycling boxes and collections are made once a fortnight. As a person with mobility problems, I have difficulty carrying them and would like to find a simple wheeled stand to keep them on by my back door and for moving them to and from the roadside. There are many garden trolleys available but too elaborate for my simple need. Has anyone else a similar problem and found a way of dealing with it?

In your situation, I'd ask the relevant department of your council to come up with an alternative. My council is quite accomodating to differing/awkward/special situations.
Colders, if you can find a piece of external plywood the right size, a set of these screwed underneath might do it...........

People around where I live have assistance stickers in their windows or doors for the bin men to help get their rubbish to where it should be. Maybe your council, has the same thing.
Here, you register with the council and they come onto the property to remove bins/rubbish etc so that the person doesn`t have to take it to the edge of their property. Your council might have the same system.
sycamore and 237 - dont mention the word council! Although the have their uses, you'll start others off on their nonsense ramblings!

A lot of helpful suggestions here thank you. At one time the council collected from my home, but this only happened twice then they seemed to forget about it. Some of the links you have given me could provide the answer - I'll follow up in the morning.
