There's lovely, now..

And these monkeys are praised to the rafters by someone on AB. Judging by the letters and the people I know, he's out of touch with the general mood. How must the English feel?
Fecking ridiculous - a mickey mouse assembly for a mickey mouse country - they deserve each other.

///“It is a mistake to see this as a pay rise. The Board’s research clearly demonstrates that the job of being an Assembly Member has changed significantly since 2010, when the salary was last reviewed.”///

Well, I guess that makes it OK then!

What do we want?
Independance!!!
When do we want it?
Now!!
(repeat x 5338)

Today:

Now, open your wallets and say after me… "Help yourself"

We're all in it together - it's just that some are more in it than others (apologies to George Orwell).
these are done by an independent review body, same as England.
Ah yes - quite so jno.

Personally, I will believe they are fully independent at the point where Porcine Aviation becomes commonplace ...

Don't blame the Welsh people. Most of them didn't ask for it or want it. There was a certain amount of apathy involved. People are less likely to vote against things they have no interest in than vote for something they are 'fanatical' about.* We were misled** about the size and the cost of the thing, also.
I'd guarantee that given a referendum tomorrow the vast majority would consign the whole rotten edifice to history.

*Despite the apathy it was passed by a less than 1% majority, if you can believe that.
**An example of the lies people were told. There would only be 1 assembly building. Last time I read about it, there were 16 and counting(building).

And that was 2012!

"They demanded the council rescind a decision to increase council chief executive Anthony O'Sullivan's pay grade from a maximum of £131,000 to £158,000."

If he threatened to resign at £131k, why not let him? One or two other councillors would then get a promotion. ;)

What happened, in the end?

^^^ Yes quite right Svjek; don't blame the Welsh people. I don't want the *** Welsh assembly. Don't want independence ether. Unfortunately in Wales, it's the minority which always gets pandered to, a bit like other minorities! Daren't offend anybody! I once read that S4C is the most expensive television station in the world is terms of running costs! .... and who watches it? I don't know ANYBODY who does (although my auntie Sylv in Crewe used to watch Pobl y Cwm with the subtitles on). Similarly I know about 4 people who are Pro Welsh Assembly and Pro independence. Sunny Dave, for the record, I do take exception at you calling Wales a Mickey Mouse country.
Horseshoes - Wales can be a real country (in my eyes at least) only when it does opne of two things :

1. Pays its own way

or

2. Is appropriately grateful and behaves pleasantly towards citizens of the rest of the UK who currently subsidise it.

It is patently unable to do (1) and seems inherently averse to doing (2).

It's the only country in the world where (as a tourist willing to spend money and support their local businesses) I have been roundly abused in the street and told to "feck off back to england" - for no reason other than being 'not welsh'.

I can (and will) reserve the right to avoid ever spending money there again - but my taxes seem to be supporting the place anyway - so I feel 'Mickey Mouse' is a fair enough epithet.

I know that was an old story, hypno, but I thought it could do with an airing. ;)
As I remember at the time, they waited till the rest of the council were on holiday and had a hastily convened, 'secret' meeting. Result; 30% pay rises presented as a fait accompli.
I noticed last night that the (English)police were called in, but I haven't seen the outcome.
No doubt the minutes were in Welsh and no translators available.
