I plan the meals a week in advance.
On the day (a bit more than an hour before)
I have to decide in the morning as there's bound to be some part of the evening meal that's got to come out of the freezer.
I always plan in advance as I cook from scratch. Usually just the night before mind you :)
Mostly in advance, more or less. I can only do one big shop a week so I tend to plan roughly as I am in the Supermarket and buy enough for meals for the week. I do have a basic cupboard ingredients so some things mnight vary. i.e. I buy mince but may not decide until the day whether we are having mince cobbler/mince in yorkshire puddings/mince with mash/spag bol/chili/meatballs with pasta/burgers etc. I'll buy chicken pieces but they might be a stir fry or curry or something - I try to have a rough idea in case I need fresh stuff e.g veg for stir fry etc.
Depends on what else I an doing.
bit of both.....
Usually decide in the morning. Only have myself to think about.
Difficult to decide an hour before if you are cooking from scratch.
I always plan for my meal advance in one day.
Bit of both.

When I do a big shop I have a list of meals but often decide on the day.
